A metronome that stays with the track, not just on its own

Most metronome apps just click. Drum Lab's metronome is synced to real practice tracks — so what you're locking into is an actual groove, not an isolated click.

How is this different from a standalone metronome app?

A standalone metronome just clicks at a fixed BPM in isolation. Drum Lab's metronome is synced to the practice track itself — flip it on and it resyncs automatically to wherever you are in the track, including after pausing, resuming, or scrubbing.

Practice Mode: automatic tempo ramping

Tempo-ramping is a well-known practice technique: instead of jumping straight to a hard tempo, you increase speed gradually and consistently, giving your hands time to adapt at each step. Doing this by hand means constantly stopping to bump a metronome up a few BPM. Practice Mode automates it — set a step size (like +5 BPM) and an interval (like every bar), and Drum Lab handles the ramp while you keep playing.

Adjustable playback speed

Independent of Practice Mode, every track's playback speed can be adjusted from 0.5x up to 1.5x — useful for slowing a track down to learn a tricky fill, or speeding it up past its recorded tempo once you've got it locked in.

Frequently asked questions

How is Drum Lab's metronome different from a standalone metronome app?

Instead of clicking on its own, it syncs to the practice track you're playing along with, resyncing automatically after you pause, resume, or scrub to a different point.

What is tempo-ramping practice?

A technique where tempo increases by a fixed amount at a set interval, so you build speed gradually instead of jumping straight to a hard tempo. Drum Lab automates this with Practice Mode.

Can I use the metronome without a backing track?

The metronome in Drum Lab is designed to run alongside a practice track rather than as a standalone click — pick any track and toggle it on.
